There are two
kinds of people:
Those who do the work, and those who take the credit.
Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there.

Here
you will find quick information
about uniforms, auxdata forms, & meetings
The Coast Guard
Auxiliary experience is full of unfamiliar things for the
new member. Here we'll try and make some of the basics
easy to understand.
The United States Coast
Guard Auxiliary membership is made up of many volunteers, just like
yourself. We are the civilian support system for
what we call "The Gold Side"... the United States Coast
Guard. We refer to ourselves as "The Silver Side."
These terms directly relate to our uniforms, which are
basically identical except that Coast Guard uniforms
have gold buttons and braid, and gold details like the saluting
man pictured to the right. If this were an Auxiliary uniform the
buttons and braid and detailing would be silver. It's unlikely
that a member will have any routine need for a 'dress blue' uniform like the one
pictured to the right.
The two basic uniforms
that you will need, depending upon your area of
interest are:
1)
Tropical Blue
for meetings, boat show
booths, classrooms, public events or any routine Auxiliary
function, or
2) Operational Dress Uniform (ODU) if you are doing operational work such as a Boat Crew member.
